Problem
Should I enable WEP Encryption on my wireless network? What impact will it have?

Solution
WEP should be enabled on any network that is not intended for public use. WEP makes gaining access to a wireless network very difficult without the appropriate encryption keys. Wireless networks that do not have WEP enabled are very prone both inadvertent and malicious attacks from hackers and viruses. In addition, wireless networks that are not encrypted are easy targets for individuals looking for free Internet access. These users can easily gain access to your network and significantly impact the performance by using large amounts of your bandwidth.
